When I first set out to make this film, I liked the idea of showing a unique profession/business. I asked my cousin Sarah if she was willing to be interviewed and talk about her jewelry business; she was excited about the idea. I knew I wanted her to share her personal story, while also showing what she currently does day to day, which the film accomplished by having the parallel actions of the interview and studio tour. While production was slightly challenging, being a one-man crew, and driving out two hours one way to Sarah’s house, I had a lot of fun making Silver Studio and am really pleased with how it turned out.
